Urinary tract infection (UTI) is a bacterial infection that women develop at least once in their lifetime. It could be common among some women to develop it more than once. The biggest trigger of UTI is new sexual partners, poor hygiene, and bladder inconsistency. This condition can be easily treated with OTC antibiotics, and one can also follow some home remedies to get rid of this bacterial disease. Cranberries
Unsweetened cranberries are an efficient way to rid the body of UTI bacteria. They can be eaten as is or in the form of unsweetened juice. It is one of the most efficient ways to cure UTI at home. Vitamin C
Foods and beverages rich in vitamin C help kill the bacteria present in the bladder; hence, it is advised to load up on fruits and veggies that are a rich source of the nutrient. Vitamin C increases the acidity of the urine, which helps ward off the bacteria from multiplying in the bladder. Foods rich in vitamin C include pineapple, tomatoes, bell peppers, lime, oranges, and berries.

Personal hygiene
This plays a crucial role in keeping bacterial infection at bay. There are a few things to keep in mind, including avoiding holding urine as this can promote the growth of bacteria. Another point to remember is that after sexual intercourse, one must release urine to eliminate any potential bacteria that can travel from the urethra up to the bladder. Also, always wipe from front to back after a bowel movement to prevent any bacterial infection.

Intake garlic
Garlic is an ingredient that is packed with anti-inflammatory properties that help kill bacteria. The body recognizes good and bad bacteria present in the body, and anti-bacterial foods help fasten getting rid of foreign bacteria. Garlic can be infused in many recipes, and that’s the only way to intake this potent herb.

Avoid sugar
Sugary foods like candy, pies, cakes, and even packaged juices are best avoided when curing UTI. That’s because sugar promotes the growth of bacteria, making it impossible to cure the condition.

Limit long baths
Taking long baths and saunas must be avoided when curing UTI as soap, salts, and essential oils in baths only make a comfortable environment for the bacteria to grow. Also, one must avoid douching.
